Wheeldon’s ‘Alice’ Brings Magic to Royal Opera House

In his exclusive interview with BBC News, choreographer Christopher Wheeldon discusses his ground-breaking production, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland “…the first new full-length ballet commissioned for London’s Royal Ballet for 15 years, and the first specially composed for the company in 20 years. Pet Shop Boys to Score Full-Length Dance Production

pet-shop-boys556-260x260Following in the footsteps of others such as Paul McCartney and Kip Winger, Pet Shop Boys are adding their names to the growing list of recording artists lending their talents to the dance world. According to both the band’s website and the official announcement from Sandler’s Wells, Pet Shop Boys are scoring the upcoming production of “The Most Incredible Thing”, a tale by Hans Christian Andersen. 

Pet Shop Boys were introduced to Sadler’s Wells over four years ago by The Royal Ballet Principal, Ivan Putrov, who asked them to write a ballet score for him. A Royal Exhibition-Famous Royal Ballet Costumes on Display

_48023305_009476623-1Costumes worn by Dame Margot Fonteyn and set designs by Picasso are going on display as part of a major exhibition by the Royal Ballet. The Lowry Centre, in Salford, will host the retrospective celebrating the history and future of the company. The exhibition will tell the story of the Royal Ballet from its foundations in the late 1920s to the present day.”

Highlights from this stunning display feature “a recreation of Margot Fonteyn’s dressing room as it was at the Royal Opera House with her make-up cases, mascot, shoe darning kit, practice clothes, spare shoe ribbons and the Odette tutu from the 1952 production of Swan Lake.”
